“When we occupied the house abandoned by the Ugo family living in Cagliari, we found the oak tree in a precarious condition. It was very sick and showed signs of major pathologies that we treated by turning to friendly experts. Thanks to their advice we made interventions so that it could maintain itself and resume its lushness, in view of the great historical value that we knew it had represented both for Sestu and for the whole of Sardinia. It was 1972 when we entered and we left it in 1976 when it was demolished to make the present square. From direct sources in the Ugo family we know that in that old house people like Grazia Deledda and Sebastiano Satta met together with Ranieri Ugo, the owner and a man of high culture.” (Dionisio Pinna)
