Megalithic garden

In the 1970s, Pinuccio Sciola and his friends reclaimed an unhealthy area, under which a river flowed, creating the “Giardinetto” in the 1980s. They planted native plants from Pixinortu Park, except for palm trees. Pinuccio decorated the garden with sculptures carved on site, interacting with the community and accepting everyone from the Nobel Laureate to the farmer. At the end of the small garden, there is a mural depicting prickly pear blades, created by German artist Helke Reuter, one of the first muales of San Sperate. The mural is distinctive for the scraped and etched contours of the figures.
