Millennial Olive Tree

Named a Natural Monument of the Region of Sardinia(Provision and date of establishment: Decree Assessorato Ambiente October 17, 2013 signing of the decree at the conclusion of the procedure provided for by L. R. 31/89) located in the locality “Su cungiau de is olias,” this important natural monument has a circumference of about 13 meters at the base of the stem and a height of more than 15 meters. The specimen is a valuable representative of a wonderful olive grove composed of several hundred very large individuals.

The origin of these olive groves is referred to the time of Pisan rule (13th century AD). The thousand-year-old olive tree is part of the everyday life of the Sinesi. In fact, the municipality has established a park around him and other specimens at which various events are held throughout the year related to oil production. The most important ones are those promoted by the National Association of Oil Cities, of which Sini is a member, such as “Snack in the Olive Grove” and the “National Walking Day among the Olives”
