The Granary Mount was established in Villacidro in 1761 but only a few decades later found its home in this structure.
The recently reconstructed building has housed the “Villa Leni” Civic Archaeological Museum (along with the Pro Loco headquarters) since 2003, where numerous artifacts found in the surrounding territories of Villacidro and neighboring municipalities, dating from the Recent Neolithic to the Early Middle Ages, are on display.
The exhibition is enriched by an extensive series of educational panels including a map illustrating the finds in the area and a detailed chronological scheme.
Exhibits include stone tools from Cottega, Roman-Imperial grave goods from the Ruinas necropolis, decorated ceramics, bronze jewelry from the Late Antique and Byzantine periods, and a bronze button depicting the four-lobed towers of a nuraghe, chosen as the museum’s symbol.
