Walking along today’s Via Marconi, which leads to the Montevecchio Mine and Costa Verde, one skirts the Guspini Cemetery. The plan, consisting of ten plates, was drawn up in 1866 by the assistant engineer Onnis of Cagliari. The complex, in neoclassical style, consisted of a fence that left the apsidal part of the oratory outside the walls, an entrance with the morgue attached, the centrally located oratory, and the obelisk between the entrance and the oratory. The work, by the Nonnoi company, began in 1867 and was completed precisely in 1868, as witnessed by geographer Lamarmora. In the historical area of the cemetery it is possible to admire the funerary monuments dedicated to the illustrious personalities who, in different capacities, contributed to the development of Guspinese society.
