The “S’unda” mural captures one of the historical moments of deep faith and devotion in the Putzese community, narrating the great flood of. The relentless rains in their onslaught, undermined the foundations of the sturdy houses built of ladiri, forcing the community to desperately flee to the only safe haven: the majestic church of Our Lady of Grace. There, in the midst of the storm, citizens clung to their faith, huddling in prayer as they implored heavenly grace to end the scourge of the waters. In the magnificent artistic representation, viewers are transported inside the event, where the solemn presence of the real 100-year-old statue of Our Lady emanates comfort and hope amidst the chaos dispelling the clouds. Through meticulous research work, curated thanks in part to the collaboration of our historian Stefano Basciu, the mural also reveals a detailed reconstruction of the ancient church, allowing visitors to fully immerse themselves in the atmosphere of courage and resilience that characterized that historic tragedy.
