Mural “The Procession” (Andrea Sabiucciu, 2020)

The mural “The Procession” is a vibrant ode to the tradition, culture and faith that permeate the soul of Decimoputzu.
In the first piece, the church of St. George and St. Assuina dominates the scene, while the square comes alive with the departure of the proud folk group, proudly manifesting the community’s deep roots. A little further on, a magnificent ox-drawn tracca embodies the tradition of the annual parade in honor of the saints, a tangible symbol of popular devotion.
In the second piece, the striking church of Our Lady of Grace stands centrally, surrounded by the horsemen riding their horses open the procession flaunting a majesty that evokes pride.
In the third part, the atmosphere becomes charged with sacredness as the confraternity, led by the priest, leads the people to the church of St. Basil, marking the culmination of the religious event.
Finally, in the last segment, the church is transformed into a festive stage, with two ringers singing traditional melodies, filling the air with merriment and joy. To close the work, a couple exchanges demonstrations of love and faith, symbolizing the continuity of values passed down from generation to generation.
Between the two passages in the church of San Basilio, a poem written in Sardinian by the talented poet Sandro Chiappori adds a touch of depth, further elevating the meaning and importance of this unique celebration.
