Less well known than other illustrious monumental buildings in Ferrara, Palazzo Naselli Crispi can
be described as a Roman palace in the heart of an Emilian city.
The building was commissioned by Canon Giuliano Naselli from Girolamo da Carpi and completed between
1533 and 1537.
Girolamo, a painter and architect, made many trips to Rome, gaining a deep
knowledge of classical architecture, which he put “on stage” in this creation.
After Naselli’s
death, which occurred almost immediately, the palace had many owners until in 1922 it came to the
Reclamation Consortium, which made it its headquarters.
Damaged by the 2012 earthquake, the building underwent a massive restoration that will
return it to the public in 2020, in all its compositional and decorative splendor, which is expressed at
starting from the architectural perfection of the courtyard to the fine decorations of its rooms.
