Nuraghe La Prisgiona

The nuraghe La Prisgiona currently appears as a real pile of rubble, from which only a few elements can be seen that can confirm the supposed grandeur of the building. The summit on which the monument stands is developed on granite terrain, from which other nuraghi below are dominated, and the view extends to the hills of Pedres Castle. Large crudely squared granite blocks and small stones were used for fillings without any processing. The plan of the central body is supposed to have been trilobed, but it is difficult to understand the articulation of the interior spaces, of which only an elliptical compartment brought to light by clandestine excavation is barely visible. The walls of this room were built with unworked, medium-sized blocks connected with clay mortar; the vault was tholos-shaped. This room led to a corridor characterized by rectangular light and a false dome vault, and near the chamber is linteled with two large granite slabs; today it is completely filled with stones. It is possible to recognize the mighty ante-mural that insists on and exploits the natural rock, with the entrance still retaining in situ the lintel consisting of a large trapezoidal slab. Not excavated. Datable to the Bronze Age/Iron Age, it is assumed to have a dwelling-defensive function.
