The “Nuraghe of St. Mark” is still the subject of the excavation campaign that began in 2001.
Over the centuries, the site has undergone Punic occupation (the first Carthaginian settlements on the island are dated to 525-520 BC) and Roman occupation (it is dated to 238 BC). It was inhabited until late Roman times.
The structure of the nuraghe, an atypical quadrilobate, consists entirely of poorly worked basalt boulders from the Giara plateau.
