Nuraghe Riu Mulinu – Cabu Abbas

The nuragic complex of Riu Mulinu stands on the relief of Cabu Abbas (250 meters above sea level). Excavations, carried out in the late 1930s by Doro Levi, yielded several bronze and ceramic artifacts now on display at the Olbia Archaeological Museum and a statuette of a female figure holding a jug on her head with her hands preserved in the Cagliari Archaeological Museum. The great wall, with a length of 220 meters and an average thickness of 4, wraps around the top of the hill and has two opposing entrances. In the nuraghe, located in the center of the complex, two niches and a small well of uncertain purpose are visible. Based on the different architectural features, it is believed without certainty that wall and nuraghe were built at different times. However, the findings have allowed us to date the frequentation of the complex between the Middle Bronze Age (17th-14th centuries B.C.) and the Early Iron Age (10th-9th centuries B.C.).
