Nuragic Village of Sant’imbenia

The nuraghe and village of Sant’Imbenia are located in the innermost part of the Gulf of Porto Conte, the ancient Bay of Nymphs. Rising in the 14th century B.C., they are involved in a major renovation beginning in the second half of the 9th century B.C. that leads to the creation of a public open space overlooked by stores and work areas, a veritable market square. At this stage, important trade relations with different areas of the Mediterranean, from East to West, were defined, and the village took on the characteristics of a representative center of a state-like organizational system. Research in the nuraghe and village began in 1982 until 1997, and then resumed in 2008.
