Rosary Chapel

The chapel dedicated to the Virgin of the Rosary is commonly called Sa Cappella e S’Arrosàriu. Small in size, it was adorned at the top of the facade with a small ribbed bell tower with a small arch in which a bell was placed.

The oratory, once in the care of the Confraternity of the same name, is currently municipal property and has been completely restored in recent years.

All that remains of the old factory is a niche that housed the statue of “Our Lady of Candlemas.” The simulacrum, dated 1700-1799, made of carved and painted wood, is currently housed in the parish church.

The building of the Chapel dates back to the early 19th century thanks to a bequest from notary Giuseppe Antonio Virdis of Simala. The bequest was administered by the local Confraternity of the Rosary consisting of lay people who were in charge of processionally accompanying the priest on various religious occasions.

The fraternity was recently reconstituted after a long period of inactivity.
