S. Rocco Court

This historic nucleus, named after the ancient Oratory of San Rocco, and the nearby door of the same name, open on the Via per Milano, is home to exhibition spaces of the municipality, and, among other things, houses the Committee for the Promotion of Lace, a center for research, protection, practice and promotion of the precious art of lace.
In use since the end of the 15th century, Cantù lace, or lace, was a precious ornament of furniture and clothing for centuries.
The continuation of their tradition in Cantù is also due to initiatives such as the School of Arts and Crafts Applied to Industry – the “progenitor” of today’s “F. Melotti” High School – where lace became the heritage of the professional training of the younger generations.
