Sa Domu Beccia represents the typical Sardinian housing past, which has always been based on its inhabitants’ close relationship with the countryside. The restoration project initiated in 2009 was aimed at recovering the original materials and finishes. The typical features, the presence of the courtyard “sa pratza,” the clay and straw bricks baked in the sun “ladiri,” have been brought to light and maintained where possible in their original appearance. The roofs that were disassembled from the old tiles and made of juniper logs were salvaged, replacing the beams that gave way, with others available on the market. Inside the house, visitors will rediscover the atmosphere of the past and historical evidence of Tortolì. Furnishings, household items, ancient trousseaus, Sardinian costumes, and even games will be on display as evidence of a past not to be forgotten.
