Sa Domu de su Ferreri was recently acquired by the Municipal Administration. It is especially the laboratory that keeps its original characteristics intact. Both the perimeter masonry and the division of rooms is built of làdiri (mud bricks) made in the same courtyard as the dwelling; the walls are plastered with ludu (mud straw). In sa bottega there is still the utensileria de su ferreri (of the blacksmith). The room is characterized by arrangement of the work space with the anvil in the center, supported by a sturdy wooden base, on fronnàbi (the forge) behind supported by a wooden frame that is operated by hand. There are also su laccu ‘e s’acqua near the forge; su cabacorru (the vise) on a large stump near su bangu; a sturdy wooden table; a large manual wall drill; and, in the courtyard, sa perda po acutzai (the characteristic circular sandstone grinding wheel), which is operated with a foot pedal and was used to sharpen cutting tools.
The courtyard is cobbled; there is the characteristic circular platform, made of stone slabs, used for the operations of reshaping the iron wheels of wagon wheels and the structure used for shoeing oxen: sa macchina ‘e ferrai.
