The dwelling, located near the parish church of St. Peter, was presumably built in the late 1800s. The conservative restoration, which took place in the first decade of the twenty-first century, made it possible to recover and preserve the structure that reflects that of the traditional earthen house of the Campidano di Terralba. Across the wide cobblestone courtyard, “Sa Domu” is spread over two floors. The masonry is made of unfired earth, of the handmade type, with considerable presence of gravel, sand, timbers and straw inserts. The roof is double-sloped with a wooden truss supporting structure and a roof covering of Sardinian roof tiles on incannicciato. Still visible on the ground floor is the old bread oven, also made entirely of unfired earth. Sa Domu de Tzia represents a significant example of urban redevelopment of a typical Campidanese house that, without losing the poetic charm of tradition, has been adapted to current regulations and the changing needs of contemporary society. It displays a series of contemporary furnishings that recall the designs of traditional typical Sardinian wedding chests.
