Sa Moba de Aiaiu Museum

“Sa moba de Aiaiu” is a privately owned peasant museum carved out of Raffaele Cau’s old oil mill dating back to about 1935, the year he bought second-hand and placed “sa moba,” a trailing millstone for oil that is still there. Disused since the 1950s, the space in 2003 was restored by his grandson, Raffaele Atzori. His passion for antiquity and farming culture has led him over the years to collect tools and utensils, cataloging them and storing them in that space. However, the low economic value of such tools is embellished by the signs of wear and tear on them that become evidence of the daily life, work in the fields and pastoral practices of our grandparents. Raphael first, and his family today, wanted to share this heritage with the community. On the occasion of the Sagra de Su pani Saba, on April 25 each year, that place hosts the dressing of the bride in the reproduction of “Sa Coja Antiga” or the departure of the Bridegroom.
