The Sacred Heart Church is located in the square of the same name, in an area called “Sa Burra.” The area was used as pasture, cultivated fields and vegetable gardens. The presence of a well, located next to the church, is still remembered by neighborhood residents. In 1927, a cellar on Oristano Street was used for worship, becoming the original nucleus of the parish. Sacred Heart Parish was officially established on October 1, 1954, but the foundation stone was laid on June 26, 1960, and the church was consecrated on November 23, 1969. The facade has one half exposed stone and another half plastered with bricked-in windows. The bell tower stands on the left side. Internally, the church has three naves separated by pillars and white marble flooring. The chancel is dominated by a large mosaic with the figure of the Sacred Heart. Along the aisles are the Stations of the Cross, the work of Rita Chillotti. The church is enriched by several simulacra and the wooden statue of the Sacred Heart of Jesus.
