Sacred Heart Elementary School

Designed in 1890 by Alghero engineer Sebastiano Urtis, the Elementary School building, adorned with a garden enclosed by a wrought-iron gate, constitutes an interesting example of eclectic architecture of neoclassical influence, in accordance with styles imported from Liguria and Piedmont in the late 19th century. The building is part of the rigorous urban planning policy of the turn of the century, which traced the city’s growth guidelines within a harmonious framework that respected the landscape and environment.
