The church of Santa Lucia is a small country church (located along the Capoterra-Santadi provincial road), the structure is located close to the Sulcis Park, a few km from the WWF nature reserve of Monte Arcosu and the state forest of Gutturu Mannu.
Thanks to its privileged location, completely immersed in the beauty of the Sardinian landscape, it has always been a favorite destination for out-of-town trips organized by the inhabitants of neighboring towns such as Uta, Capoterra, Assemini, Elmas and Cagliari.
The original church was located further forward than the present one and consisted of mud bricks and a loggia: unfortunately, poor maintenance due to a gradual move away from these country lands led the church to ruin, and as early as 1965 it was decided to proceed with the building of the present one (inaugurated two years later).
The foundations were dug by hand, the labor was free, and the tiles were donated by a local business.The facade was built with cement bricks plastered on the outside, giving it, therefore, a modest and sober appearance overall, typical of small country parishes.
But it is on August 20 of each year that the church of Santa Lucia returns to its full splendor: on this date, in fact, there are as many as 3 days of celebrations that bring the population to pay homage to the Saint, with festivities, sounds, dances and parades that are the result of the best Sardinian folkloric tradition.
