“San Donato” Primary School

The San Donato school building, built between 1913 and 1922, was designed by engineer Silvio Sanna, who was the winner of a competition announced in 1905 by the city administration of the time. The complex is characterized by its monumental appearance compared to the surrounding buildings. The building is built on a U-shaped floor plan pattern, with the courtly style typical of school buildings of the time. The body, compact on three levels, has a wide facade, concluded by a projecting cornice and highlighted by openings where lowered arches are repeated, which become three in the central part. Sassari’s oldest school chronicles life in the old town, from fascism to the present day, through memories and documents of the many teachers and children who grew up within its cozy walls.
