Riccardo Simonetti, an eclectic engineer and refined interpreter of the tastes of the bourgeoisie in Cagliari and Campidano in the first half of the 20th century, was commissioned to compile the design of the ‘schoolhouse. Although the original design dates back to 1913, the start of construction was repeatedly postponed so that in 1925 Eng. Simonetti had to update the project. In compiling the new project, Eng. Simonetti must have been inspired by Renaissance architecture, as evidenced by the beautiful facade in which there are frequent references to classical sixteenth-century buildings, reinterpreted in light of innovations in architecture. The building was not built until the early 1930s and dedicated to the memory of General Giuseppe Garibaldi.
