S’Olivariu

The “S’Olivariu” Urban Park, now the social and administrative epicenter of the town of Uta, is an ultrasecular olive grove that belonged to the Serra family. The planting of the olive grove dates back to the first half of the 19th century. The park covers an area of about 15,000 square meters, but it was once much larger. In fact, at the time of its planting it was home to about 1,500 olive trees. Until the late 1970s,
the landscape surrounding the olive grove was mainly vegetable gardens. S’Olivariu Park today represents a small patch of historic greenery embraced by the urban fabric, a witness to the agrarian landscape of yesteryear, in a town where the economy has always been based primarily on agriculture.
