The church of Sant’Anna is located in the historic center of Sanluri, at the edge of the perimeter of the ancient walls, and is connected to a cemetery area attested since the 16th century. Of the church’s origin we know very little; instead, we possess numerous records concerning the numerous restorations that profoundly altered its original physiognomy. In any case, from the Gothic-Catalan style, we can assume that it was built around the 15th century. Also, in a will dated 1604, St. Anne’s Church is referred to as the “ancient parish.” Architecturally, it has a single nave with chancel that rises not a little above the church floor. On the ancient polyptych preserved in the right chapel is the date 1576. It depicts, in addition to the figures of saints and prophets, the scenes dearest to a Christian’s heart: the Crucifixion, the Annunciation, Christmas, the Resurrection, the descent of the Holy Spirit, and the Assumption. Since 1726 it has been the seat of the Confraternity of Carmel.
