St. Mary Magdalene Parish Church

The construction of the parish church of St. Mary Magdalene took place at the turn of the 17th and 18th centuries, after the old parish church dedicated to St. Theodore was gradually abandoned.
Beginning in 1664, in fact, the rebuilding and expansion of a small church that stood in place of the present one began, and already a year later, on April 22, 1665, the foundation stone was blessed.
In 1715, workers still worked on the rebuilding of the facade, which was probably completed before 1730, when the first piece of the square-bore bell tower was also finished.
Of the old facade, which must have resembled that of Cagliari cathedral, there remain today the columns that hinge the main door, the three windows and the niche above the entrance door.
The polychrome marble altar was also made between 1745 and 1747.
Above the compass now finds its place one of the largest pipe organs in Sardinia, with its 1467 pipes.
The feast of St. Mary Magdalene is celebrated on July 22.
