Documented as early as the 8th decade of the 1500s under the dedication of St. Mary of Monserrat, the parish of Genuri currently assumes the title of Nativity of the Virgin Mary. The liturgical feast is celebrated on September 8. New phases of construction took place from the early 1600s until completion of the beautiful dome in 1628.
The dome served as a model for master F. Maxia of Serrenti to build the presbytery and dome of St. Anthony of Sardara.
