The earliest records concerning the fabrication of the church of Santa Maria de sa Consolassione, now Santa Maria, date from 1579, when the Genoese painter Mastru Jeroni Ferrà worked on the retable of the high altar. Probably the retable in question is the one that the very young Mario Delitala, already on his way to a career as a distinguished painter, restored in the early twentieth century, and which is now in the parish church of Sant’Andrea Apostolo. The history of this church continues among lights and shadows to the present day. With all certainty, it, now crumbling, is rebuilt with offerings from the faithful and solemnly blessed on December 8, 1911. The plastered, wooden-roofed church has a gabled façade, with a bell gable on the apex of the slopes. On the façade, where a bas-relief depicting a chalice, a host, the monogram of Christ and the date 1910, the year of the aforementioned reconstruction, is visible, a molded cornice divides the pediment from the lower order, in which a portal made of trachyte ashlars opens, above which is an oculus. The north- and south-facing sides are reinforced by buttresses; the northern flank has a trachyte portal in the Gothic-Catalan manner. The church, single-naved, terminates with a semicircular, east-facing apse in the Romanesque style, which has a very low trachyte frontal arch due to the obvious raising of the floor level from the original one. An annex room is observed on the southern side.
