St. Michael’s Church

Bitti and its historic center rich in churches (the population’s strong religiosity led to the building of 35 of them in the past, including village and country churches, currently about 20 still in use) host the Church of San Michele a short distance from its main street, the corso. From feudal times, it was opened on May 8 on the feast day. The statue of St. Michael holds a stadera to weigh the sins of the faithful. The small church also houses the statue of St. Narcissus, which is said to have been brought by the Spanish for protection against locusts.
