The Museum of Agro-Food Traditions of Sardinia is housed in the Steri House, which has been owned for centuries by a family of town notables. The dwelling is characteristic for its complex articulation of built and open spaces, typical of the large courtyard houses of the Campidano region: loggias, living quarters, rooms for representation and for the processing of agro-pastoral products, shelters for working and farm animals, and more. The exhibits come from the house, to whose history they are closely related. The museum layout and rich written and iconographic documentation describe their original functions and related contexts of use. The Museum documents life customs, organization of domestic work and agricultural cycles, production techniques, ways of cooking and food consumption that belong to the entire community and territory, reflecting the many aspects of traditional Sardinian material and symbolic life.
