Su Stari de tziu Raffieli is one of the oldest Campidanese houses in Sinnai. In fact, its foundation dates back to the 17th century, but the manor house underwent radical renovations in the 19th century by the wealthy landowner Rafaele Serreli. The entire complex occupies an area of 500 square meters and is organized around a large courtyard (sa prazza) overlooked by the typical loggia (sa lolla) with the entrances to the cellar (su magasinu de su binu), to the granaries (su suu de su trigu e de sa fal), and to the shelters for the servants. Also on the courtyard, under sa lolla, are the ancient bread ovens one of which dates as far back as 1700. The wing destined for the private residence of the owners is of particular beauty because of the decorative frescoes that cover the walls. Such paintings, together with the painted coffers of the wooden suspended ceilings, are among the most beautiful, and best-preserved, examples of the fashion of decorating the interiors of stately homes with frescoes with floral or geometric motifs, which was widespread in Sinnai in the late 1800s and early 1900s. A demonstration on durum wheat processing and traditional bread-making will be set up in the courtyard during the event.
