The Spada House, built in the early 20th century and located at 2 Via Roma, has housed the headquarters of the “Monsignor Giovannino Pinna” Foundation in an apartment on the second floor since 2012. The latter, a native of Gonnosfanadiga, was pastor of the mother church of Santa Barbara from 1998 to 2011, when he passed away due to an incurable illness. A well-deserving citizen of Villacidro, in May 2023 the civic administration dedicated a park made between the premises of the former Magistrate’s Court and the cemetery to him.
The Foundation’s headquarters preserves part of the library that belonged to the priest during his lifetime (the remainder is located in Gonnosfanadiga), the library holdings given to the same Foundation by the SEA Study Center Association, totaling 4,000 volumes, plus Don Giovannino’s personal archives.
Inside are a number of items that belonged to the prelate, including: typewriter, camera, chalice, holy oil cruets, glasses, two cassocks. Also on view are: a portrait of him, by the Jewish-Roman painter Georges de Canino; a model, in wood and reeds, of the country church of San Sisinnio, made by Raffaele Mocci; and an olive-wood statue depicting the Virgin Mary, by sculptor Aldo Paderi.
