The Church of Carmel

Built in the early 18th century, it is consecrated to Catholic worship. Precise information on the foundation and history of the church, which was rebuilt in 1769 through donations, has not been traced. It has a single nave with a barrel vault supported by three arches and an apse with a quadrangular plan. Three chapels equipped with altars face each side in the two walls of the nave. When the façade was rebuilt, it is assumed that the small bell tower was also enlarged, which appears to be later and adapted from a pre-existing core, accessed by means of a narrow staircase. The church has a rectangular ground plan, the entire facade white from the color of the limestone with which it was built, has a series of pilasters below, divided by the front door, marked by two columns with Corinthian capitals. In the upper part is a mullioned window, framed by pilasters with Ionic capitals. The left and right elevations have massive buttresses with curb at the base. On the right side is a chapel raised above the ground floor with pilasters and triglyphs.
