The civic market of Iglesias

It is an expression of industrial civilization and the working and producing countryside; it represents the symbolic architecture of food trade: hence the need for a covered market. It came into being in the second half of the 19th century and presented itself as a center of social gathering, a meeting point and city chatter. At first used as a beccheria, a place used for slaughtering, and only later, after various resolutions of the City Council there is an expansion that will lead to the birth of the new market in 1929. The inauguration will be made in 1934. The areas surrounding the market will be used to set up the Iglesias Trade Fair, the first in Sardinia.
