The Fountain of is Piccas

In 1883, and in subsequent years, there were three sources of water supply in Portoscuso: FUNTANA MANNA and FUNTANEDDA used for the needs of the population, and FUNTANA DE IS PICCAS, used for domestic purposes and for watering livestock, originally flanked by a washhouse and drinking trough.
Of the three fountains only the last one is still extant, although the historic monolithic basins (piccas) are missing.
It was in fact rigorously cleaned and restored in 1975 by a group of volunteers who restored it to its original state.
This was an important signal to the protection of our monuments and attention to our “history.”
