Large and majestic, stands the Norman Tower or Clock Tower as it was renamed after its renovation in the early 1800s and by the inhabitants of the town of Terlizzese themselves, whose faithful companion it is. With its chimes it punctuates the lives of its citizens, reminds them of appointments and accompanies the rising and setting of the sun.
But its 38 m reminds us of its origin, born as the main tower of the Ancient Medieval Castrum erected between the 11th and 12th centuries by the Norman count Amico, lord of Terlizzi or Terlicium. Its majesty and immensity, enhanced by the clock face in the center and the bell aedicule at the top decorated with yellow and blue majolica tiles depicting the signs of the zodiac. The Clock Tower is there with its watchful eye watching over the city, the only survivor of an ancient history.
