Founded on April 7, 1907 by Gerolamo Pinna, an elementary school teacher committed to the improvement of agriculture, the Tissese Agricultural Cooperative is the oldest in Sardinia. The birth and development of the Cooperative did not take place on fertile land: the first steps were uncertain and full of obstacles, as the then landowners of Tissi did not want to lease land to the cooperative, so members were forced to resort to land in the ‘agro of Ossi. Despite these difficulties and the harsh criticism it received, the administration always presented budgets in the black. After the 1940s and the end of the fascist regime, the partners were able to win the trust of the landowners of Tissi, enhancing and handing down to the present day the art of vineyard cultivation, and along with it the processes of winemaking and the subsequent bulk marketing of wine, combining ancient tradition with modern techniques.
