Villino Ricci

Located at the intersection of Via Giorgio Asproni and Viale Dante, Villino Ricci is an elegant residence built in the second decade of the 20th century. Also known as Villino Rosa, for the characteristic color given to it over time, the building represents a rare example of an isolated villa in Sassari’s urban fabric, surrounded by a garden that amplifies its charm. The Villino was inhabited by Antonio Ricci Agnesa and Lucia Manunta Martinez, members of prominent families in Sassari society. When Lucia Manunta Martinez died in 1946, the property passed to the Order of the Suore Poverelle of Bergamo, who used it for charitable purposes. In the 1980s the building was leased to the Parish of San Giuseppe, and in the early 2000s an ambitious restoration was undertaken by Dr. Antonio Gavino Diaz, the current owner, restoring the Villino to its former glory. The Villino Ricci is a perfect blend of style and Moorish references, evident in the crowning of the windows located on the second floor. The structure, with its red bricks, stands out in Sassari’s urban landscape and offers a step back in time to discover the history of one of the city’s most fascinating residences. Today the Villino is a center of culture, hosting events, exhibitions and meetings, and is a lively and dynamic space for citizens and tourists.
