War Memorial

The monument stands on a trachyte staircase of four steps.
A pyramidal base, also carved trachyte, supports a bronze statue of a soldier holding a flag in his right hand.
On the base of the monument are white marble slabs with the names of Serrentese fallen soldiers in the two world wars.
Recurrences: every November 4 we go to the front of the monument and, in memory of our citizens who lost their lives in the wars, the roll-call of each deceased is made and the Mameli Hymn and The Legend of the Piave are played with the town band.
At Easter, for the meeting of Mary and Jesus, the faithful divide into two small processions (which start from the Church Square) and then meet/meet next to the Monument.
After the ritual bowing, the 2 Saints are placed side by side and Our Lady is “undressed” from mourning.
This operation , in the past and still today, is linked to a woman connected to the fallen in war.

The Monument is located on National Street on the left side of City Hall
