Water is raw material for tasty bread, it is substance that makes olives juicy, it is nourishment for the earth, lifeblood for fruits and vegetables, it quenches the thirst of animals to make good milk and good meat. Even today, as you walk through the streets of the village, you can encounter examples of public wells, arranged on street corners. The trace of their importance to the village also results in toponymy: Via Fontana Marchesa and Via della Fontana are examples of this and still show intact two examples of public fountains. Currently in disuse, there are more than fifty of them. Drawing water from the well represented a social moment: the well was a meeting place for women, the scene of falling in love, and the origin of macabre legends that served as a warning for lively children.
