Under the Wings of the Wind: Luigi Dal Cin’s new book set in Cagliari

The brand new novel/guide Sotto le ali del vento (Under the Wings of the Wind), written by Luigi Dal Cin (2013 Andersen Prize) for Rome-based Lapis Editions and accompanied by beautiful illustrations signed by Pia Valentinis and Ignazio Fulghesu, has been released in bookstores throughout Italy. The novel, produced by the Camù Consortium, is dedicated to the city of Cagliari and aimed at a younger audience.

Neighborhoods, museums, historical figures, natural parks, festivals and traditions are told lightly by one of the brightest pens in contemporary Children’s Literature and immortalized by illustrations by Pia Valentinis and Ignazio Fulghesu.

The adventurous story of the seagull Elijah, the information diluted in the story, and the evocative illustrations accompanying the text create a new affective atmosphere around the city’s places, which are too often presented in a way that is not appealing to younger audiences: Cagliari not only serves as a backdrop for the characters’ vicissitudes, but itself becomes the mysterious and fascinating protagonist of the novel.

Produced under the patronage of the City of Cagliari as part of the activities for Cagliari Italian Capital of Culture 2015, the book is produced in collaboration with: Imago Mundi ONLUS Cultural Association for Monumenti Aperti, Centro Commerciale Naturale – Cagliari Centro Storico Consortium, Tuttestorie Bookshop, Sardex.n
