The cusp shelter on Foscolo Street is now located within the garden of the Superintendence building and was intended for the protection of Maritime Engineering personnel who were located in the adjacent building.
Together with the collective shelters for civilians and the various occasional shelters, the Foscolo Street shelter constituted the territory’s response to a need for defense by public authorities and the population in wartime.
