Arbatax Paper Mill Building

Built in 1963, the former factory was one of the most modern and state-of-the-art of the period.
It stood on 120 hectares of land.
Two paper machines (the Bonaria and the Arborea) ensured intensive production, up to 400 tons per day of newsprint.
With the paper mill came an airport and a residential neighborhood for workers and their families.
The arrival of the irrepressible crisis led to the decision to dismantle the paper machines and sell them to foundries on the peninsula.
The large empty shed, inside which lie the remains of the two paper machines, remains standing.
It will not be torn down pending the implementation of the Characterization Plan, which will precede interventions intended for infrastructure.
