The karst valley of Corongiu de Mari was intensely inhabited from the earliest stages of Sardinian prehistory.
Numerous evidences still survive in the dozens of caves.
The Fox Cave was used as a burial ground by prehistoric Copper Age peoples; interesting among the grave goods are vases from the Campaniforme culture.
