The Basilica of San Gavino, built during the 11th century on top of Monte Angellu hill, is one of the most representative monuments of the Romanesque style in Sardinia. It represents a unicum for its longitudinal development plan characterized by the presence of two faced apses. The basilica is dedicated to Gavinus, Proto, and Januarius, who were martyred by Gov. Barbarus, in the early fourth century and following anti-Christian persecutions.
