The Central Dopolavoro, intended for office workers, is located in Roma Square, the nucleus of city life. The Dopolavoro Cine-Theater complex consists of two independent bodies arranged at right angles, closing the eastern corner of the square. The building, with a rectangular ground plan, has two floors and a portico in the front facade. The preeminent goal of the OND (Opera Nazionale Dopolavoro) was to organize workers’ leisure time consistent with the policy of the National Fascist Party. It organized recreational and other more specifically useful activities: screenings of documentaries, films, theatrical performances, literacy classes, home economics, sports classes, had its own library; promoted autarkic activities such as “Garden Gardens” and chicken and rabbit breeding, etc. Today the premises house a multi-purpose hall.
