Surrounded by a forecourt accessed by a long granite staircase, the church (desired by Sir Thomas Brassey) was inaugurated on May 21, 1916, and is divided into three naves. For its construction by the Mining Administration, Pope Pius X offered 20,000 liras. In 1957, the Way of the Cross was built, which leads from the church along a path through the greenery to a natural rocky complex on which the three crosses of Calvary were erected.
