It is located on the right side of the highway leading to Gonnesa. To the left of the entrance, a plaque bore the inscription “In onorem Sancti Severini Episcopi Severinus De Villa edificavit MDC- CLXXXIV.” Severino De Villa was a canon of Iglesias Cathedral.
The area where the church stands appears to already exist, as a vestige of San Zeferino, in the 1794 Cabreo of the baronies that make up the entire Diocese of Iglesias.
