Civic Palace

The oldest structures of the palace date back to the 15th century, when the Civic Council purchased some houses in the plaça del Pou Vell (Civic Square) to be used as the seat of the municipality. Remodeled several times over the centuries, the building was rebuilt in the second half of the eighteenth century by Piedmontese military engineers, and again expanded in the early decades of the nineteenth century. To the latter period dates the neoclassical facade in Town Hall Square, while the façade behind, in Civic Square, where the original entrance to the palace opened, probably dates to the late 18th century.
