E. Rogadeo Municipal Library

The Municipal Library is located on the second floor of an ancient mansion, which once belonged to the noble family of Counts Rogadeo, in the heart of Bitonto’s historic center, a few dozen meters from the Cathedral. In the library rooms are preserved valuable books, parchments and manuscripts of inestimable value, incunabula. Prominent among them is the “Red Book,” published in print in the 16th century, which contains copies of privileges obtained by the universitas bitontina and other documentation produced by it in the time span from 1265 to 1559. The library is divided into two main rooms, named Traetta and Rogadeo, each with its own history and character.
